Ο Γιώργος Παπαναστασίου γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Είναι μαθητής της τρίτης λυκείου. Είναι πρωταθλητής Ελλάδος της σφυροβολίας στην κατηγορία Κ18 και μεγαλύτερή του διάκριση είναι το χάλκινο μετάλλιο στη σφυροβολία ανδρών Κ18, στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα στην Ιερουσαλήμ το 2022.
