Ο Δημήτρης Αντωνάτος γεννήθηκε και ζει στην Κεφαλονιά. Παρά το νεαρό της ηλικίας του έχει καταφέρει να πετύχει ήδη σπουδαίες διακρίσεις στα κορυφαία ηλικιακά πρωταθλήματα. Ο αθλητής τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2024 μετακόμισε για τις ΗΠΑ για να σπουδάσει με πλήρη υποτροφία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Κάνσας.
